I am a sociologist and strategic consultant with more than a decade of experience working across the a range of sectors. I hold a PhD in Sociology, wherein I developed award-winning best practice principles aimed at improving wellbeing, inclusion, and belonging through organisational culture and strategy. I am an internationally recognised subject-matter expert and media commentator on social, workplace and educational equity, with a particular interest and specialisation in equity, diversity, accessibility, and inclusion.
Throughout my career, I have consulted, advised, and worked across in sectors including:
I have specialised research, teaching, and consulting expertise in the areas of social inequity; socio-legal studies (e.g. inequities in law, policy, and criminological contexts); health and wellbeing; gender, and sexuality, diversity studies; and neurodiversity.
This allows me to effectively assess capabilities and risk factors in complex organisational contexts , and advise across the domains of policy, staff / stakeholder experience and wellbeing, and equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Sociology is about understanding people, groups, institutions, and their stories; and identifying common themes that help us better understand their culture and how it came to be.
Cultu(Re)organised was born through spotting a clear pattern in how people describe their organisational culture:
1. Solutions-First: A problem is identified and a solution is proposed, often from a top-down or external perspective
(eg consultants who know the sector, but not your organisation)
2. People-Second: Consultation occurs too late. Culture suffers. Organisational expertise and stories are undervalued, with stakeholders feeling frustrated when strategy overlooks reality.
3. Research is Reactive: Data shows missed targets, delayed timelines, and wellbeing outcomes at odds with organisational culture goals. Organisations respond reactively, the cycle repeats.
Sociological research on people, culture, and strategy tells us that organisational culture is shaped by two key factors: Firstly, your own people, performance, and priorities. Secondly, the factors that guide and influence your people and organisation on both internal and external levels. This can include things such as policy and legislation; psychosocial health and wellbeing determinants; economic performance; and stakeholder relationship pressures. Strategies and targets that don't account for the sociological realities of your context and culture are destined to fall short.
What sets Cultu(Re)Organised apart is the ability to understand your organisation as a dynamic social system, and (re)organise your goals, people, and culture accordingly.
Cultu(Re)organised helps organisations to uplift their people and capabilities, and strengthen or reimagine their cultural strategy and vision.
Three unique guiding principles offer the ability to address complex organisational needs and deliver meaningful impact:
1. People-Centred approaches delivered by sociological expertise. The central principle is understanding your people, their stories, and your organisational culture and systems.
2. Research-backed services with an evidence-based foundation.
A sociological approach proactively develops organisational insights, which are backed by expertise across the sector.
3. Solutions-focussed strategies for your organisational culture.
Capability and leadership uplift, strategic planning, and achievable targets that reflect your reality alongside your goals for growth.
The Cultu(Re)organised logo offers a visual mapping of the journey we'll embark on: Collaborative conversations about your culture and organisation will put people at the centre of everything we do. Drawing from internal data, organisational narratives, and a sociological evidence-base, we will set realistic targets aligned to your goals for culture and capability uplift. We'll find solutions focussed on (re)organising and developing your strategy, people, and culture to align with best practices that promote wellbeing--and chart our progress over time.
The mission is to identify and leverage your unique strengths and people, and ensure your culture, strategies, and vision align with your context and reality.
