Strategic Advising And PLANNING

Person interacting with digital policy documents.

The Mission

My role is supporting organisations to:

  1. Identify their culture goals
  2. Address barriers to reaching them; and
  3. Develop uplift targets that are achievable

Effective strategy cannot be developed in isolation from the people responsible for implementing it, nor the broader cultural context surrounding it (both internally and externally). Great strategy must reflect the organisation’s purpose, workforce capacity, stakeholder needs, and cultural context.

I aim to help organisations develop a plan by collaborating with their people, and equipping them with the resources to deliver it.

The Approach

As a Sociologist specialising in translating research into practice, I know the value of combining organisational research with a practical project-management approach. I understand organisations as social systems shaped by formal structures, informal norms, workplace relationships, and society more broadly. I look beyond what an organisation says it wants to achieve and examine the cultural and institutional factors that may support or obstruct progress.

I work collaboratively with leaders, staff and  stakeholders to understand their context. Depending on the needs of the organisation, this may involve reviewing workforce data, or collecting new information through interviews, focus groups, or surveys. This evidence provides the foundation from which progress can be measured in the long-run, ensuring your strategic planning efforts are implemented into clear strategic priorities for culture change.

The Expertise

I bring experience developing, implementing and supporting strategic initiatives across higher education, legal settings, cultural institutions, and both government and private-sectors.

My doctoral research saw me develop advanced skills in research design, data analysis and understanding how organisational systems and cultures shape people’s experiences. These capabilities allow me to identify patterns that may not be immediately visible to others.

My work  connects evidence-based, strategic direction with practical implementation: helping organisations create plans that are ambitious while remaining realistic, measurable and responsive to change.

Past Experiences Include:

Strategic Planning

  • Large-scale strategic planning leadership in complex organisational contexts (e.g. co-developing plans in universities, research centres, etc.)
  • Interpreting staff experience data and advising on strategic responses
  • Designing / delivering stakeholder consultations during strategic planning
  • Planning specialist EDI projects, across design and delivery stages
  • Leading  strategy development workshops for senior leaders

Strategic Advising

  • Advising on government-funded projects with strict policy requirements
  • Advising legal practices on key equity issues which may impact client cases
  • Advising educators on designing inclusive assessments and pedagogies
  • Advising on the the development of internal training curricula / workshops
